Campers will get to experience everyday life at a barn! Life in the barn will include activities such as daily riding, learning how to braid manes and tails with ribbon, groom and care for the horses (including bathing) and care for them at the end of the day. This is a great time for campers to spend time outdoors and build lasting friendships with fellow horse lovers in a structured and positive environment. Campers are broken into smaller groups of similar riding experience, which is perfect for both the new and more experienced riders. At the end of the week, parents and family are invited to a performance to see what their camper has been learning! Riding takes up about 1 hour per day in an arena with no trails and consists of learning how to steer, stop, turn, and walk/trot on their own. Campers will spend time on the ground with horses throughout the rest of the day. Proper attire is required including sneakers or boots (closed toe with a heel) and long pants and layers, depending on weather. ASTM/SEI certified helmets are required for all participants and will be provided. Signed waiver forms are required and will be sent to participants once they have registered for the camp. Bring to class: bug spray, sunscreen, water bottle, nut-free snack and lunch daily. Camp is located in Anoka, MN. NOTE: Drop-off is at 9 a.m. and pickup is 3 p.m. each day Monday through Friday (parents are not permitted to stay for the day). A “show” for the parents will be held on Fridays of weeklong camps at 1:30 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to take pictures, watch your child ride, and meet the horse they worked with during the week!
