Would you like to become a beekeeper or explore the various possibilities? This fascinating hobby is for anyone who enjoys nature and loves honey. You'll learn what makes bees the most important pollinators, how to understand honey bee behavior, and how to set up and manage bee hives. We'll discuss the challenges you may encounter as a beekeeper and other information you'll need to know to get started. Enter door 1.

Swim 5 (Ages 5 & Up)
Aquatics
Participants learn ways to improve efficiency for strokes learned in Swim classes 1-4 while learning new skills. Safety topics include 1st aid, throwing assists and proper use of lifejacket. Class limit: 8. Kickboxing & Boxing for Youth (Ages 7-15)
Health & Fitness
Your child will learn two skills at once with fitness kickboxing & boxing combined. This one-hour class is open to boys and girls of all skill levels from recreational, fitness, self-defense, as well as competitive. Participants will learn basic boxing/striking skills, proper kicking techniques, participate in conditioning drills, and also learning how to defend themselves. The skills taught can serve as a base for hand-eye coordination, footwork, and focus to use in other sports.

NEW! Your child can dive into the fascinating world of wildlife art with our "Wildlife Wonders" class! This class is perfect for budding artists who love animals and want to learn how to capture their unique beauty and characteristics on paper. We'll explore a variety of techniques including drawing, painting, and mixed media to create realistic and expressive depictions of different animals. Enter door 1 at Clearview and Oak Hill, enter door 5 at Westwood.

District 742 Middle School Swim Program (grades 5-8)
Recreation
This program is for middle school students to learn about competitive swimming at their home school (South at Tech, North/Kennedy at Apollo). Participants will learn about all four competitive strokes, starts, turns, underwaters, and racing strategies. All participants MUST be able to safely swim in deep water without any assistance. This is NOT a learn to swim program. Equipment needed includes a cap (or hair tie for longer hair), towel, goggles, and a swimsuit (one piece for females, no basketball shorts for males). Transportation from the middle schools to the high school on the Activity Bus will be provided. There is no transportation home from practice. Participants will swim in a meet on the final day of the session, Thursday, 3/27, at Apollo High School. Door 11 at Apollo. Door 2 at Tech. **Participants do not need to have competitive swimming experience, or be able to do all four strokes. However, I understand that in order for my child to participate, they must be able to swim safely and independently in the pool without assistance as we will NOT have in water instructors** Needs or Questions: Contact Activities Coordinators Jasmin Estrada (South side) or Pat Ridpath (North side).
