This full-body workout encompasses kicking, punching and blocking that focuses on developing strength, balance, stability and flexibility. This class is open to men and women and is for beginner or advanced students as well as athletes looking to improve conditioning of the upper, lower body and core. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and supportive shoes.

Beginning Guitar or Piano at Spicer Music Studio

Students start with simplified chords to build a good foundation and then progress at their own speed. This offer includes three, thirty minute long sessions. Students will need to bring their own guitar. Spicer Music Studio contact information will be given at time of registration to schedule lessons. This Community Education offer is limited to one use per participant.

Board Game Nights: Learning Modern Classics!

NEW! Do you love games? At this fun and interactive class, you'll learn board games beyond Monopoly, Life and Risk. Join board game professional, Dawn Marinaro, of Paddy’s Game Shoppe with their 30+ years of board game experience to learn modern games that can be a hit at your next gathering with friends and family. Tuition includes: beverage and snack. 1304-23F1 (Classics) -October’s class will feature two nights of the most essential modern board game classics that have exploded in recent popularity. You will play hits like Cataan, Carcasonne, Ticket to Ride, King of Tokyo and more. This is the perfect entry into the landscape of modern gaming. 1304-23F2 (Cooperative) -November’s class will feature two nights of cooperative games where players all work together to complete objectives. Some can even be played solo as well! We'll be learning games such as Castle Panic, The Spill, or even Battle for Grayport for experienced players. 1304-23F3 (Party) -December’s class will feature two nights of fun new party games where cards and dice will hit the table. These quicker style games are perfect for small or large gatherings of all ages. You will play games like Fluxx, Roll for It, and locally designed FlapJacks & Sasquatches! 1304-23F4 (Mysteries and Mocktails) -January’s one night event will feature mystery games and mocktails! Start the new year off sipping on mocktails while playing games of puzzles, crime solving, looking for clues and pointing fingers! From the fast paced 5 Minute Mysteries, to the deeper challenge of Chronicles of Crime:1900, or even an escape room style game like Exit.

Creating Crop Art (For the State Fair or Just for Fun)

NEW! Seed art is a long-time tradition at the Minnesota State Fair. Using assorted crop seeds, artists glue them to boards and other surfaces to make beautiful, and creative works of art. This class will provide an introduction to crop art including a brief history, styles, specific techniques for making a seed art design, and how to enter your work in the State Fair. Participants will have an opportunity to make a work of their own to bring home. Tuition includes supplies. About the Instructors: Amy and Steve Saupe are a father/daughter seed art team who have won multiple blue ribbons for their seed art entries at the Minnesota State Fair. Enter door 1.

Mosaic Stepping Stone

NEW! Join mosaic artist Laura Ruprecht in creating a unique Mosaic Flower Stepping Stone for your garden or yard. Each participant will create the same design, but can choose the colored glass to cut and adhere to the cement paver. Tuition includes: materials plus a take home bag of grout to finish the stepping stone at home. This is a beginner class but all skill levels and abilities are welcome.

Do you want to learn how to play guitar, bass guitar, banjo, mandolin, or ukulele? Led by Steve Cekalla's Guitar and Music School, these professionally-led group lessons are matched to your skill level. You’ll receive three virtual 30-minute group lessons that is fun for beginners, or a more technique and theory-focused for those with instrument experience. Bring to class: your own instrument, however a limited number of guitars are available if requested prior to the start of classes. Contact information to schedule classes will be given at the time of registration.

Participants will learn Ojibwe History through rope style beading techniques to make a wristlet keychain in your choice of colors and patterns. From the materials used to how the beads are incorporated in everyday lives, they tell a story. Learn the art of stitching seed beads (Manido-min-esag) to create a rope style key chain. Enter door 1.

Needle-Felted Landscapes

Learn the art of needle-felting by creating a beautiful, handmade, one-of-a-kind landscape using wool and barbed needles. Beginners or those with previous experience are welcome! Bring to class: a reference photo for inspiration or pick from landscape calendar pages provided in class. Enter door 1.

NEW! Whether you are new to clay or have some previous experience, you'll improve your skills with art teacher Melanie Schatz-Pattay. Beginners will start with the basics of throwing cups, bowls, and plates. More experienced potters can expand on their skills with larger pieces, adding handles, lids, and manipulating pieces after throwing. Five sessions will focus on throwing, while the final session is reserved for painting your pieces in a watercolor style. It’s a 3-D and 2-D experience! Items will be fired after the final class and available for pickup at the Community Ed office. Pick up date/time will be communicated with participants. Enter door 30.
