Get Outdoors, MN: Youth Park Play: Full-Day Experiences (Ages 4-12)

Parents, enjoy a day to yourselves while your child has fun in the great outdoors! Our licensed staff will facilitate learning experiences using the play-based learning approach. Park Play camps are committed to offering the balance of self-directed and self-driven learning through inquiry, play, and freedoms to design & create. Campers can expect to engage in healthy risk-taking, “soft”/”essential”/”life” skills (i.e. the interpersonal attributes of communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creation). *Child must be toilet trained.

Guitar, Bass Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, or Ukulele-Beginner, Intermediate or Beyond (Ages 6-17)

Is your child interested in music? Professional virtual instruction is being offered by Steve Cekalla's Guitar and Music School. This class offers a unique and fun approach for starters, but with the ability to teach styles, theory, and techniques to those with instrument experience. A stable internet connection, some internet savvy (ex. ability to screenshot/print screen), and access to a working printer is helpful. Participants should have their own instrument, but a limited amount of guitars are available. Please check before registering for availability. This Community Education package is for three virtual 30-minute group lessons. Only one lesson package per student. Your child's sessions will be scheduled in the month you registered for. Contact information will be given at the time of registration.

Herbalism: Making Your Own Herbal Remedy Capsules

Herbal remedies have been around for thousands of years. In this course you will learn a brief history of herbalism, the potential health benefits of many herbal ingredients, and step-by-step instructions to make 100 of your own herbal remedy capsules. Participants will be able to choose one of the several common herbal remedies with different ingredients to choose from each week. High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

Would you like to increase your endurance, build cardiovascular fitness, burn fat and improve muscular strength? High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is a full-body workout which includes warm-up, bursts of exercise, short recovery periods, and cool down. Build your strength in this solid and intense 45-minute workout. All fitness levels are welcome, modifications are provided. Bring to class: mat, water bottle, and hand weights. Enter door 1.

Homemade Classic Pierogi & Sweet Berry Pierogi (Adult or Youth w/ Adult Supervision)
Food
Learn how to make your own homemade classic pierogi and sweet berry pierogi with two types of homemade dough and filling. You'll also learn how to cook and freeze these small-sized and delicious dumplings. You'll receive Zoom instructions and ingredient list via email prior to class. Adult supervision required for youth participation. NOTE: One registration fee for this virtual class can include participants living full-time in the same household ONLY.

Horse Day Camp (Ages 6-17)

Kids will learn what it's like to have a horse for a day! Campers get to ride in the indoor and/or outdoor arenas for 40min-50min (no trails), practice how to steer, stop, turn, and walk on their own. Participants may have the opportunity to make horse treats, do a craft, and play games. And don't forget the time to meet and care for the horses, which is a big part of ownership! Campers are broken into smaller groups based on similar riding experience and age, which is perfect for both new and more experienced riders! Camps are held rain or shine. Proper attire includes sneakers or boots (closed toe with a heel), long pants and layers, depending on weather. ASTM/SEI certified helmets provided and required to be worn. Signed waiver forms are required and the link will be emailed to participants once they have registered for the camp. Bring to class: sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle, nut-free snack and lunch. Camp is located in Anoka, MN.

Inclusion and Equity in the Workplace

This class will teach participants about their workplace rights as well as ways to speak up and advocate for themselves. Participants will also learn about how to advocate for any access and accommodations in their workplace. Course fee includes all learning materials, snacks and beverages.

Intro to Video Game Design with Nintendo Characters (Grades 1-4)

Does your child love to play video games? At this technology class, they'll learn how to create their own video game and choose their own storyline with popular Nintendo characters as their stars while they add challenges and difficulty levels. Additional Technical Requirement: Scratch and scratch account. Instructions will be emailed. PC Needed (Windows or MacBook), will not work on Chromebook, tablets, or phones.

Chess is a complete brain workout that embodies elements of art, science and sport. Beginner and intermediate players will expand their skills, develop strategy, improve pattern recognition and even relieve some stress. Participants are encouraged to bring their own chess sets and a notebook but this is not required. About the Instructor: Mr. Long Chen has placed in the top three in chess tournaments in Laredo, TX; St. Cloud, MN; and Berlin, Germany since age nine. He has a Lichess rating of 2100+ in both Blitz and Rapid formats.

This introductory course is designed to instill a desire to learn and improve at the greatest strategy game on earth. Participants are encouraged to bring their own chess sets and a notebook.
