Your child will learn basic blocking, striking and kicking, as well as balance, coordination and focus. This class emphasizes mind and body coordination with a theme of making good choices. Building physical fitness and coordination as well as exposing kids to Chinese culture and learning daily Chinese language and customs are also important parts of this class. Kids who emerge from this program will be changed for the better. Master Dee Ma is a graduate of Beijing University of Sports specializing in Chinese Martial Arts. She had nine years of intensive martial arts training before she went to the college. She has been teaching Martial Arts /Tai Chi since 1985. Mindfulness through Play (Ages 5-9)Health & FitnessNEW! Mindfulness is the art of becoming aware of our thoughts, feelings, sensations, and environment in each moment. In this short course, your child will learn to develop this awareness through play. Mindfulness helps us focus and do well in all our activities. It helps us to be calm even when we are fearful, upset, or even just bothered by little things around us. This beginner course comprises 4 lessons each about 60 minutes long, full of lively activities using textures, sounds, visuals, and movement. Depending upon the activity we will meet indoors or outdoors. The course is recommended for all children ages 5 to 9 years. Handouts and materials will be provided. PopularSt. Cloud Jr. TennisHealth & FitnessNEW! Welcome to St. Cloud Jr. Tennis! This new Community Education program is full of SAFE-DISTANT-FUN-MOVEMENT. This program includes three youth levels addressing skill development at each level. Levels 1-3 are introductory to beginning levels. In level one (ages 7-8) students work on athletic skills, motor skills, tennis skills, and the ability to rally with another player. Level two (ages 9-10) includes students working on athletic skills, tennis skills, rally skills, and will apply skills in a game situation when ready. In level three (ages 11 & up) the participants will rally and work on strategies including the use of forehand, backhand, volley, and serve with actual game play involved. At the end of the two summer sessions, there will be a bonus final event held at Sta-Fit gym (Sartell location) on Friday, July 30. (Racquets provided or bring your own).
