American Red Cross Lifeguard Course- Blended Learning CourseAquaticsPopularThe purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel take over. The course also includes training and certification in CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid. Red Cross textbook Lifeguarding is included. Participants must attend all class sessions and complete online eLearning prior to class. Prerequisites: Participants must be at least 15 years old and pass a swimming pre-test given at the first class. Class limit: 10.Winter 2021

American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor CourseAquaticsThe purpose of the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach courses and presentations in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program by developing their understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions, and how to evaluate participants’ progress. Candidates will develop lessons plans in class and as homework. They will receive feedback by both the instructor and peers while practice teaching. All textbooks are included. Participants must attend all class sessions. Prerequisites: Participants must be 16 years or older, mastered skills taught in the Level 6 course and pass a pre-course skills test. Class limit: 10. Class will take place in Tech HS Pool and Team Flex Room.Winter 2021

Private Lesson (adults/children)AquaticsWaitlistThese lessons are 25 minutes long and will meet 8 times. Private lessons are designed to give any participant the individualized attention necessary in order to improve or master swimming skills. Together, the instructor, participants and/or parent determine the goals for the session and the curriculum is customized in order to meet those goals.
