This class is open to men and women and is for beginner or advanced students as well as athletes looking to improve conditioning of the upper, lower body and core. ACT Prep Seminar (Grades 10-12)

This five-hour virtual seminar enables your learner to prepare for the ACT college admission test. Your child will gain valuable insight into the ACT through a close examination of each type of question. This virtual seminar will teach strategies necessary for answering specific question types and general test-taking tips. It also provides suggestions for post seminar test preparation. Your student will receive 24 practice tests, divided into 20-minute workouts, written to ACT specifications, as well as a detailed preparation study guide. Participant will have access to the seminar for 6 months. Links with access codes will be provided after registration by Doorway to College/ZAPS. Printed materials will be mailed as well. NOTE: If your student is in 11th or 12th grade and attends Tech, Apollo, or McKinley as a District 742 student, please call 320-370-8200 to register for an adjusted rate sponsored by GetReady and the State of Minnesota.

Code Championship Tournament Series: Virtual Computer Coding Competition (Grades 3-9)
Special Interest
Your child will build a computer bot to play head-to-head against other coders. Whether this is their first Code Championship event, or if you've been competing for years, this is the perfect way to explore the competitive coding world of Code Championship. No previous coding experience necessary. The Code Championship Series is a series of four tournaments in four weeks (it's ok to miss one or two). These tournaments will be hosted online using Google Meet and the Code Championship website. If you have a modern browser like Chrome or Firefox, no additional download is required. Participants should be able to navigate the internet (basic typing and mouse control). The link to the Google Meet event will be emailed two days before the tournament.

Extreme Coding: Artificial Intelligence (Grades 3-6)

NEW! Dive into more advanced computer science topics, including augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Computers are getting smarter every day due to advances in machine learning algorithms. Coders can teach computers to recognize faces, play games, and find patterns. Girls Who Code! Computer Coding Club (For Girls in Grades 3-5 attending Kennedy)
Special Interest
In coordination with St. John's and College of St. Benedict's, third, fourth, and fifth grade girls at Kennedy Community School will have the opportunity to build the foundational skills and understanding of computer science concepts and sisterhood with guidance from the Nationally Recognized Program - GirlsWhoCode (www.girlswhocode.com). Your child will learn how to code and build fun projects together that can be shared with friends and family. Students majoring in computer science from SJU/CSB will help provide individual student assistance alongside Holly Nelson, Kennedy Community School Librarian/Media Specialist. Need-based scholarships are available from CSB/SJU upon request. Families will need to pick up their student promptly at 3:30 p.m.

This class offers a unique and fun approach for starters, but with the ability to teach styles, theory, and techniques to those with instrument experience. A stable internet connection, some internet savvy (ex. ability to screenshot/print screen), and access to a working printer is helpful. Participants should have their own instrument, but a limited amount of guitars are available. Please check before registering for availability. This Community Education package is for three virtual 30-minute group lessons. Only one lesson package per student. Your child's sessions will be scheduled in the month you registered for. Campers get to ride in the indoor and/or outdoor arenas for 40min-50min (no trails), practice how to steer, stop, turn, and walk on their own. Participants may have the opportunity to make horse treats, do a craft, and play games. And don't forget the time to meet and care for the horses, which is a big part of ownership! Campers are broken into smaller groups based on similar riding experience and age, which is perfect for both new and more experienced riders! Camps are held rain or shine. Proper attire includes sneakers or boots (closed toe with a heel), long pants and layers, depending on weather. ASTM/SEI certified helmets provided and required to be worn. Signed waiver forms are required and the link will be emailed to participants once they have registered for the camp. Bring to class: water bottle, nut-free snack and lunch. Camp is located in Anoka, MN.

Introduction To International Chess (All Ages)

Chess embodies elements of art, science and sport. Your child can come learn or expand their skills in this rapidly growing sport and develop your strategy, pattern recognition and even relieve some stress. The first hour of class is for teaching beginners and intermediate players the fundamentals of the game, as well as strategy, tactics, and puzzles while the second hour is for open chess play. Participants are encouraged to bring their own chess sets and a notebook. About the Instructor: Mr. Long Chen has placed in the top three in chess tournaments in Laredo, TX; St. Cloud, MN; and Berlin, Germany since age nine. He has a Lichess rating of 2100+ in both Blitz and Rapid formats.

Multiplayer Minecraft: Master Builders (Grades 1-5)

NEW! Does your child love Minecraft? At this new multiplayer Minecraft class, we’ll go over basic, and not so basic, building techniques. Participants can work alone or collaboratively to complete building challenges on our Tech Academy Minecraft server. Additional Technical Requirement: Minecraft Java Edition & PC needed (Windows or MacBook), will not work on Chromebook, tablets, or phones.

My Little Horse Camp (Ages 2-5 with Caregiver)

Campers will get to ride a real horse in an arena, meet several different horses at Boulder Pointe and learn how to groom the horses...all with a focus on safety! In addition, students will do an art project and have an opportunity to make horse treats to feed their new friends. Stations are split into 15-minute intervals to keep everyone engaged. Parents have the opportunity to lead their child on the horse and take photographs as they go. Camps are held rain or shine. There is an outdoor and indoor arena. Proper attire includes sneakers or boots (closed toe with a heel), long pants and layers, depending on weather. ASTM/SEI certified helmets provided and required to be worn. This 2-hour camp is designed for parent/guardian participation. Parent/Guardian is expected to remain with their child during the entire duration of the camp. Signed waiver forms are required and the link will be emailed to participants once they have registered for the camp. Bring to class: sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle and a nut-free snack.
