Kayaking Basics

This is a beginner session that offers basic kayaking instruction to help participants learn and develop new skills while gaining confidence on the water. Class will begin at Clear Waters Outfitting before moving to the calm and scenic Warner Lake that is perfect for beginners. All participants must sign a waiver and children under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 18 need waiver signed by parent. No lifeguard will be present. All equipment will be supplied by Clear Waters Outfitting.

Practice includes extended holds of postures with yoga props to experience a new level of restoration by holding poses longer all while breathing in the fresh air in our outdoor studio. Upon poor weather conditions, class will be held in the indoor studio.

Come enjoy our outdoor studio and the fresh summer air. Yoga Flow offers strength, flexibility, concentration and breath work. Perfect for those just starting out in their yoga journey as well as for the advance yogi who is wanting to perfect the basics of their poses with fine attention to alignment details. Upon poor weather conditions, class will be held in the indoor studio.

Rock Steady Boxing for Seniors (with or without Parkinson's disease)

This boxing-for-fitness program is for seniors over 55 as well as individuals with Parkinson's Disease. You'll participate in non-contact boxing drills that help build motor skills, balance and coordination through a variety of different exercises including punching a heavy bag, hitting the focus mitts and some glove-to-glove contact. A variety of movements, stepping, bobbing and weaving help you build focus, be attentive and get in shape. Class instructors are certified through Rock Steady Boxing of Indianapolis and the Struthers Parkinson's Center of Park Nicollet. Boxing gloves will be provided along with walkers, canes and wheelchairs to assist those that need support when standing. Wear light shoes for standing on foam wrestling mats. (Please note the Monday/Wednesday classes in the printed catalog are no longer available)

Calling all senior ladies! Want to brush up on your golf skills and get back into the swing of things? These two Monday morning lessons are designed for senior ladies who have some golfing experience in the past but needs the confidence to get back onto the course. On both days you will enjoy a 30-minute lesson followed by 4 holes of golf. Come join the fun and show off your swing! Bring to class: your own set of clubs. Power carts are available for an extra fee.

Walking Program

Don't let the cold winter months keep you from moving and getting your steps in! Sign up for the walking program and enjoy the climate controlled environment of various district facilities during the listed evening and weekend hours. After registering, a wristband will be available for pickup at any of the Open Gym sites during Open Gym hours. A wristband must be worn during walking sessions. Walking program participants are welcome to walk during any of the open gym hours listed here. The open gym hours are subject to change on short notice so please refer back to the schedule often. Walking program wristband is valid through July 2026.

Yoga FiT With KPower (Focused Interval Training)

Step into Yoga FiT and feel your body wake, ignite, and flow. We begin with a yoga-inspired warm-up, opening joints, grounding your stance, and connecting to each inhale and exhale Then you will challenge yourself for 25 minutes of interval-style strength training with light weights, sliders, bands, and bodyweight strength feeling every muscle engage, every breath deepen, and every movement cultivate strength and stability. Slower, intentional motions let you hone focus, balance, and control, merging intensity with awareness. We finish with a restorative yoga cool-down, stretching, grounding, and letting your body absorb the energy you’ve built. Leave the class stronger, energized and centered. Studio is heated to 85 degrees via infrared heat.
