So, You’re Thinking About Leaving Minnesota? An Attorney’s Perspective on How to Do It
Life
NEW! A vital part of retirement or resettlement discussions involves creating a roadmap of the issues that help us decide where we want to call home. The decision is often shaped by a wide range of factors including taxes, the political landscape, weather, location of family assets, debt or income concerns, cost of living, health considerations, or simply that our friends are already there! Many people are surprised to learn that a number of states do not tax Social Security, pensions, or other qualified retirement income sources, while others can be far less favorable when it comes to estate taxes. Other questions include how to establish domicile in a new state and how to evaluate the quality of medical resources and retirement facilities. Finally, when should these discussions begin? We will explore these topics together in an open and friendly manner while answering questions and walking through the many factors that can influence where you may want to spend your retirement years.
