Pottery for Adults: Beginner or Intermediate (16+)
Creative
Whether you are new to clay or have some previous experience, you'll improve your skills with art teacher Melanie Pattay. Beginners will start with the basics of throwing cups, bowls, and plates. More experienced potters can expand on their skills with larger pieces, adding handles, lids, and manipulating pieces after throwing. Three sessions will focus on wheel throwing, while the final session is reserved for painting your pieces in a watercolor style. Items will be fired after the final class and available for pickup at the Community Ed office. Participants will take home up to 5 finished pieces. Pick up date/time will be communicated with participants. Enter door 30.

These lessons are 25 minutes long. Private lessons are designed to give any participant the individualized attention necessary in order to improve or master swimming skills. Together, the instructor, participants and/or parent determine the goals for the session and the curriculum is customized in order to meet those goals. Rock Steady Boxing for Seniors
Wellness
This boxing-for-fitness program is for seniors over 55 as well as individuals with Parkinson's Disease. You'll participate in non-contact boxing drills that help build motor skills, balance and coordination through a variety of different exercises including punching a heavy bag, hitting the focus mitts and some glove-to-glove contact. A variety of movements, stepping, bobbing and weaving help you build focus, be attentive and get in shape. Class instructors are certified through Rock Steady Boxing of Indianapolis and the Struthers Parkinson's Center of Park Nicollet. Boxing gloves will be provided along with walkers, canes and wheelchairs to assist those that need support when standing. Wear light shoes for standing on foam wrestling mats.

Roller Skating Lessons at the Skatin' Place (Ages 5 & Up)
Special Interest
Join the Skatin' Place to learn or grow your roller skating skills! Each lesson is designed to teach essential skills for progressing through the levels, all while engaging in fun activities. On the first day, we’ll assess your child’s current skills and place them in one of three levels: Level One: Focus on correct form for skating and stopping. Expect a few falls while taking a full lap. Level Two: Skating forward efficiently. A few falls during the visit are normal. Level Three: Mastering backward skating, stepovers, and the famous “Shoot-the-Duck.”Showing off might lead to a fall or two!" Arrive 10-15 minutes early to lace up and warm up. Skate rental not included in fee.

STEM Field Trip at the Skatin' Place: Newton on Roller Skates (Grades 1-6)

NEW! In this engaging lesson, students will discover how each of Newton’s 3 laws is demonstrated through roller skating. They’ll have the opportunity to experiment with force and mass, while discussing the vital role physics plays in this fun activity. The session will begin with a 45-minute interactive lesson, followed by skating and games on the rink! Skate rentals are $5.

You'll learn more about awareness and preventative avoidance measures to help lower your risk of assault. Other techniques covered include basic blocking, striking, releases and vital target areas. This class will be part lecture and part hands-on. Wear comfortable clothing. Participants must be age 12 or older.
